Tim Hagans is one of those instrumentalists whose performance is always of a captivating intensity - regardless of its stylistic context.

No matter whether Hagans, as he did a few years ago with the pianist and producer Bob Belden, surrounds himself with Drum&Bass sounds, whether he literally electrifies Miles Davis recordings with the Finnish Umo Jazz Orchestra or whether he plays pieces with a less spectacular expression together with a more hard bop and mainstream-oriented ensemble: the result is always a type of music which is very powerful and at the same time excitingly subtle. And these two characteristics are combined in a particularly fascinating manner in his CD "Beautiful Lily" which has now been recorded for Pirouet.
