BXC

Both born and raised on the south side of Chicago, BXC are a testament of every word that they record. Coming from a place of pain and confusion, this Hip-Hop/Pop duo is proving to be a strong combination of the voice of truth, love and unique expression for the next generation of music. “I draw motivation from pain and experience, everything that I mention is exactly how it happened”, says 20 year old, Alexander “Lyriq” Cottrell one half of BXC, along with his partner, 21 year old, Willie “Commando” Stanfield, “I am motivated by the Universe, the realization of it all will be the impact of my life story”. Since middle school this duo has been together writing, recording and performing non-stop! But it wasn’t until Ludacris got word of this group that everything changed completely. Through a mutual friend Ludacris was given a copy of the group’s music and he immediately flew them to Atlanta from Chicago and signed them to his record label DTP (Disturbing Tha Peace). Hard work doesn’t stop there, the group continues to beat the pavement promoting, performing and recording as much as possible to ensure that the word stays out on the street and their exposure continues to grow!

In 2008, the group released their first mixtape, “The Intro” which includes features from Shawanna (“Windy City”) and Twista & Shareefa (“In Love With The Music”). Following the success in the streets they quickly made another appearance with their next mixtape in 2009 titled “From My Block To Yours”, featuring T-Pain (“Swoll”) and also Ludacris (“Head Noddin”). By 2010 the group was definitely making a name for themselves both in Chicago and Atlanta by releasing their third mixtape, “Off The Leash” with features from Ludacris, “Open Wide” and “Up & Down” featuring T-Pain & Small World as well as recording with the Grammy Nominated production team J.U.S.T.I.C.E LEAGUE. This past January BXC released their 4th mixtape, “@BXCMusic”, with the clever idea of promoting their Twitter page as the title. “This by far is our best mixtape as far as lyrical content and showing the maturity in our music”, says Commando. Their latest mixtape release "20K", which dropped over the July 4th weekend was in appreciation of reaching 20,000 twitter followers.

Many have described BXC’s music as “food for thought”, writing their own music they have a unique style that is undeniable for sure! The group’s current single, “Kissed Your Girlfriend”, is now circulating the Internet and getting play on several College & Chicago radio stations. BXC, completed a college tour, performing along side Ludacris last fall and will be joining him again fall 2011. This summer BXC will be providing our countries troops with entertainment on the CAMMO/MISSION ONE VOICE Military Tour. "This a opportunity to provide our troops with a little joy and show them our appreciation for protecting our country", says Lyriq. Several artist & producers have also expressed interest in working with the group, so be prepared for some dope collaborations in the near future. Now officially signed to Def Jam Records and DTP, be sure to look out for BXC to release more mixtapes and their untitled EP in 2011.
