A 5 minute lesson in beat mixing on a small farm in Northern New South Wales was the catalyst for 5
years of sharing a musical brain that has culminated into the production duo of Blunt Instrument.
The Blunt instrument sound combines glitch hop, dubstep and breaks into a bass heavy dancefloor
sound.

Fueled by an addiction to early instrumental hip hop and a passion for heavy bass and breakbeats,
the duo are constantly pushing forward in new directions. Searching for the most innovative
techniques and unique sounds, Blunt Instrument explore new and adventurous ways to get the
dancefloor moving.
Blunt Instrument have been collectively DJ’ing and performing for over six years, sharing their broad
musical taste with music lovers up and down the east coast of Australia.
They have shared the stage with the likes of Ill Gates, An-Ten-Ae, Spoonbill and Opiuo and have
featured at festivals including Deliverance, Secret Sessions, Parklife and Manifest.
Over the last 2 years Blunt Instrument have been steadily refining their diverse sound. 2010 saw them
feature on An-Ten-ae presents Acid Crunk Vol 3 (Muti Music), hitting #2 on Beatport's Breaks charts.
2011 has seen release their new EP, Twice Baked, through Simplify Recordings and a follow up
single, with both releases maintaing top 10 positions in the Addictech charts.
Their music has made it's way across the globe, from tiny Brisbane bars to large international
festivals such as Burning Man and Shambala. They have garnered international support from notable
acts including Mat the Alien, Jpod and the Ghetto Funk Dj's.
